WEEKLY UPDATE--Last Week in Utah

Alma 38:2. Read :)-
Last week in Utah and boy, am I ecstatic! The next email you receive from me will have been written in Taiwan!!

This week was fantastic! That is, until friday came. Friday, the day that we were supposed to get travel plans that told us our fate after the completion of our MTC training....guess what? No travel plans to be seen. No one got them. We still haven't gotten them so we are unsure of as to what is happening to us next week (we are set to leave next tuesday) BUT, we aren't worried all that much. We know everything will be fine.  And on that note, here are some highlights of my week:

- I have been given a new assignment. Every evening class I teach my district how to write characters with a strict focus on spacing and stroke order. It is a lot of fun.
- Some of our Elders may not make it out of the MTC. Elder Rushton has a clogged tear duct and Elder Turner has heart problems. Elder Rushton had to get his tear duct flushed and Elder Turner was hooked up to an Holter Monitor for a few days. This week, Hospital stories were told over and over again.
- We were observed by teachers, leaders, and trainers, in a classroom with a one way mirror as we taught a Gold-tag investigator a lesson from Chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel. One-way mirrors are cool!
- My companions and I were asked, on the spot, to demonstrate teaching the Word of Wisdom lesson for the new Mandarin District. We seriously had five minutes to quickly jot down a plan before we taught. It ended up going really well. Being an unprepared missionary is not fun.
- On sunday I taught a Relief Society Lesson, Played the piano in sacrament, sang, "Our Savior's Love" and spoke in Sacrament. It was a very busy day.
- Had Subway for dinner on Monday.
- Attended our Last choir Practice in the MTC.
- Devotional on Tuesday and Sunday evening with Brother Stephen B. Allen and Elder Nielson, of the Seventy.
- I also found out that the MTC has extended the MTC training time to the missionaries speaking Asian and European languages, as of this week. I was given 9 1/2 weeks to learn Mandarin in the MTC but the missionaries now, will now have 12.
- So you know how every wednesday, the MTC welcomes hundreds of new missionaries? And every wednesday they go through this training where they watch "more experienced" missionaries with volunteer investigators, demonstrate a door approach, introduction/how to begin teaching and part of the first lesson. Well, guess what? My district was chosen to help out. Soooo, in a few hours, we will be those "more experienced" missionaries doing the demonstration. Quite frankly, I am a bit nervous. This demonstration will be the first thing that these new missionaries see on the first day at the MTC. This demonstration will be an example to them of how meeting new investigators will go. I really want to be a good example.

Just a few thoughts...

- Learned some things about street contacting in Taiwan. If you want to ask them an embarrassing question, compliment them first.
- There is power in serving others. Something about small acts of kindness with no need for something in return allows people to feel God's love for them on a level greater than the mere utterance of the words, "I Love You."
- "This is not a time for spiritual weaklings!" ~Elder Uchtdorf.
- Companion unity is vital to inviting and having the spirit in lessons. (D&C 38:27)
- How do we use the gifts God has given us? Our eternal progression depends on how we use them.
- It's not that Christ couldn't sin, it's that he chose not to.
- What makes a good missionary?
- The MTC is a crash course for our weaknesses.
- Am I weak? No. Am I teachable? Always.
- "He whom the Lord Calls, the Lord qualifies." ~President Monson
- D&C 123:17 CHEERFULLY
- Our Heavenly Father has great things in store for us as we look forward.
- The Doctrine of Proximity => It happens while you are on your way. You have to be out and moving, up and doing!
- Faith and Fear can not co-exist
- Faith isnt sitting and stewing, it is righteous doing!
- My Grace is sufficient to all man.
- IT"S NOT ABOUT YOU (ME)!!

Until next email! LOVE YOU!!! WO AI NIMEN!!!!

OUR STRUGGLES ARE REAL BUT SO IS THE CHURCH!!!
