Hi guys!!!! It's been a crazy week, BUT I made it!!
Packing was crazy, the airport was ridiculous and flying was just a long event in itself however, of the 4 days of being here in Taiwan, here is what I have done so far:
-Ate REALLY good street food and drank
Wintermelon Tea, which is now probably my favorite thing to drink.
- Did lots and lots of paperwork and got my bike. (Taiwan Health Care is AWESOME!)
- Took the subway to my first area, Zhonghe (the most populated city in the world--people per square mile)
- taught my first lesson my first night in my area to two investigators. Gu dixiong (Brother Goo) and Pan Dixiong (Brother Pan). Pan dx speaks Vietnamese so we had a translator sit in our lesson. It was really quite interesting. They have baptisimal dates set for April 9th.
- I rode my bike in the CRAZY Taiwan traffic....mom, if you saw me doing it you would probably die of a heart attack. It's worse than the Phillippines! And last night we rode to go find investigators in the middle of pouring rain and a thunder storm! IT WAS GREAT!!!
- every day we go out tracting and finding, knocking on doors and what not.
- every evening we usuallly try to do either Less-active finding or street contacting. Street contact is easy because there are just SOOO many people in my area. We like to contact in the metro/subway stations, in the malls, and in the markets.
- Every Wednesday and Saturday we go out english boarding. It's like street contacting except we hand out flyers and ask people to come to our free English classes.
- the investigator that I taught in the MTC over SKYPE, well, I MET HER! She lives in my area!! I will continue to teach her!
FUN FACTS:
- things are CRAZY cheap here!
- red stop lights have count down on them so that people know how long they have to wait for a green light.
- there are A LOT of tiny purse dogs here...SOOO CUTE!
- They put peanut butter and bananas on regular hamburgers (bun, patty, lettuce, bacon, cheese, tomato) and it is ACTUALLY really goood!
there is just so much to say and not enough time! HOPE YOU ALL ARE DOING WELL!! I LOVE TAIWAN!!! LOVE YOU ALL TOO!!! Until next time!
